Once again, Republicans caught doing what they accuse Democrats of doing

Update 10/13/20: California GOP admits it’s placing ballot collection boxes that the state’s attorney general says are illegal, and when told to stop, in typical four-year-old style, say, “make me.”

New York Times: California GOP admits placing ballot collection boxes

As shown most recently by the postmaster general’s actions to deliberately slow down the U.S.. mail just before an election that may hinge on mailed-in ballots, and then his refusal to reverse those steps even though he promised to stop them, Republicans live by the old adage, “It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.”

Original Post 10/12/20:

“California Republicans are allegedly creating fake drop boxes and tricking voters into depositing their ballots in them. Apparently they’re trying to prove voter fraud is real by committing actual election fraud.”

As I’ve said more times than I can count, “projection is the pigment with which Republicans color their world.”

To determine what illegalities the Republicans are committing, simply look at the crimes of which they accuse Democrats.

It’s simple behavioral psychology that holds true from the lowliest street criminal to the highest corporate CEO: to rationalize your own behavior, you assume your opponents are doing the same. That way, rather than being a criminal, you are just leveling the playing field.

That Thin Blue Line? It’s not between you and criminals, it’s between you and the 1%

Someone recently noted the peculiarity that in whatever city – no matter small or large – Black Lives Matters protests broke out, with no lag the police showed up in full military gear, ready to do battle with civilians.

https://www.kalb.com/2020/06/23/geared-up-questions-about-police-militarization-arise-again/

That’s due to a militarization that has taken place over the past few decades where local police forces have been encouraged by the federal government – and often even given grants to use – to purchase military equipment.

The argument for this post 9/11 policy was that police needed to be ready for terrorists. However, when you think about the infinitesimally small chance that terrorists would choose … say Kenosha Wisconsin … as their target, and also consider that the 9/11 terrorists were armed with nothing more than box cutters, in hindsight it seems almost certain the police were arming not to battle terrorists, but instead to battle the very civilians they were supposed to protect.

What would give US policy-makers such a fear that there would be civil unrest so widespread and so heavily attended that police would need full military gear to combat it?

Zuckerberg: specialists in ID-ing dangerous posts couldn’t see the danger in openly calling for armed vigilantes because they were looking for “symbolism and innuendo”

Mark Zuckerberg on why posts soliciting armed vigilantes in Kenosha were not taken down:
“It was largely an operational mistake,” Zuckerberg said. “It’s because the team that enforces our policy against dangerous organizations is a specialized team that is trained to look for symbolism and innuendo … and understand the details of how certain militias and conspiracy networks operate.”
So they were so attuned to “symbolism and innuendo” they couldn’t see the danger of OPENLY CALLING FOR VIOLENCE????
Jesus Fucking Christ.

Today’s Rant: The March into the Future is Inexorable, and White Folk are Scared – Exactly How Oligarchs Want Them to be

The future is an unstoppable train, and Republicans are screaming “Run! For God’s sake, RUN!”

“Perilously close to lying” translated from lawyer-speak to English is “They’re Goddamned Liars!”

Republican-led Senatorial committee issues a report that is the legal equivalent to “knifing the president in the back,” then immediately say they found “absolutely no evidence.”

“What Senate Republicans are saying about their own report comes perilously close to simple lying.”
~ Benjamin Wittes, editor in chief of Lawfare and a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution

https://www.lawfareblog.com/republican-senators-misrepresent-their-own-russia-report?utm_source=The+Marshall+Project+Newsletter&utm_campaign=3a494af498-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_08_20_11_32&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_5e02cdad9d-3a494af498-174300797

Republicans think you are too stupid to read their report and see they are goddamned liars.

Are you going to prove them right?

Republican Boogymen wouldn’t scare informed voters

“On a campaign swing in Minnesota, Trump made clear his message for the election. He repeatedly insisted that Biden ‘is the puppet of leftwing extremists,’ who will ‘replace American freedom with leftwing fascism.’”

https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/august-17-2020?r=7vfc4&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email&utm_source=copy

This tells any informed voter, who understands the political spectrum, that Trump is shoveling bullshit.

Because “left-wing” and “fascism” are opposite ends of the political spectrum.

And, left-wing shouldn’t even be scary if voters remember that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, as well as other programs designed to ensure that the basic needs of the American population are met, are all left-wing. And conservatives called them “left-wing extremism,” and “socialism” when they fought against their passage.

Today’s Rant: Cannon Hinnant Trope: Institutional Racism in a Nutshell

By now you have probably seen memes asking why a white child killed by a black man hasn’t brought people out in the streets. “Why does George Floyd’s life matter, but not Cannon Hinnant’s?” the meme asks.

Delve into what baggage is packed into the meme in Today’s Rant: Cannon Hinnant Trope: Institutional Racism in a Nutshell

Defeat voter suppression: Drop your ballots off at the county clerk

Roscoe Woods, president of American Postal Workers Union Local 480-481 in the Detroit-metro area, said he didn’t initially think the policy changes were about the election. But after what he’s seen and heard from his members, he says he’s now “a firm believer that it’s a fundamental effort to undermine people’s confidence in this agency and make it harder to vote by mail…There’s no other explanation.”
