Mark Zuckerberg on why posts soliciting armed vigilantes in Kenosha were not taken down:
“It was largely an operational mistake,” Zuckerberg said. “It’s because the team that enforces our policy against dangerous organizations is a specialized team that is trained to look for symbolism and innuendo … and understand the details of how certain militias and conspiracy networks operate.”
So they were so attuned to “symbolism and innuendo” they couldn’t see the danger of OPENLY CALLING FOR VIOLENCE????
Jesus Fucking Christ.

Today’s Rant: The March into the Future is Inexorable, and White Folk are Scared – Exactly How Oligarchs Want Them to be
The future is an unstoppable train, and Republicans are screaming “Run! For God’s sake, RUN!”

That thin blue line they’re always talking about?
It’s not between you and criminals, it’s between you and the 1%.
Get Under The Bus, Honey
So, it seems Jerry Falwell, Jr. has decided to throw his wife under the bus by accusing her of having an affair with the pool boy.
So, there’s a couple of possibilities here:
He’s trying to take attention off his open-fly yacht photo that ended up possibly killing his career at the drone factory Liberty University;
or
There’s some new allegation in the pipeline.
Open speculation has been that it was Falwell himself diddling the pool boy. Was the pool boy threatening to announce that Falwell was his paramour to get more jingle from Kris Kringle?
Or is someone else stepping into the batter’s box to swing a new allegation?
If I’ve learned anything being a journalist, it’s that if one secret is revealed, there is often another. If two secrets are revealed – especially if they are stupid enough to out themselves – guaranteed there are more chickens in that henhouse.
That’s how flawed people like this are.

Well, I was close:
Republican party membership list: pre-qualified customers
If you’ve ever owned a business or been a salesman, you are most likely familiar with those “pre-qualified customer” lists that are always being hawked online.
That’s what the Republican party membership list is for con men.

Trump is the thermometer, not the temperature
Odious as he may be, Trump is less the cause of America’s decline than a product of its descent. As they stare into the mirror and perceive only the myth of their exceptionalism, Americans remain almost bizarrely incapable of seeing what has actually become of their country.
Oh look! A Con Within a Con!
Imagine that, after conning Americans to vote for Trump, they then conned them out of their money.
“Perilously close to lying” translated from lawyer-speak to English is “They’re Goddamned Liars!”
Republican-led Senatorial committee issues a report that is the legal equivalent to “knifing the president in the back,” then immediately say they found “absolutely no evidence.”
“What Senate Republicans are saying about their own report comes perilously close to simple lying.”
~ Benjamin Wittes, editor in chief of Lawfare and a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution
Republicans think you are too stupid to read their report and see they are goddamned liars.
Are you going to prove them right?
Remember that kid in fourth grade?
Remember that kid in fourth grade who was so slow-witted that when someone called him a name, his best retort was: “Nuh-uh! You are!”
You can now ask, “Remember that president who was so slow-witted …”
Republican Boogymen wouldn’t scare informed voters
“On a campaign swing in Minnesota, Trump made clear his message for the election. He repeatedly insisted that Biden ‘is the puppet of leftwing extremists,’ who will ‘replace American freedom with leftwing fascism.’”
This tells any informed voter, who understands the political spectrum, that Trump is shoveling bullshit.
Because “left-wing” and “fascism” are opposite ends of the political spectrum.
And, left-wing shouldn’t even be scary if voters remember that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, as well as other programs designed to ensure that the basic needs of the American population are met, are all left-wing. And conservatives called them “left-wing extremism,” and “socialism” when they fought against their passage.
